What you need to get your real estate license in Alaska

Salesperson:

  • You must be at least 19 years old.
  • Complete an approved 40 hours of Alaska real estate pre-license education.
  • Obtain Errors and Omissions Insurance.
  • Pass the Salesperson licensing exam.
  • Obtain sponsorship from a licensed Alaska real estate broker.

Broker:

  • You must be at least 19 years old.
  • You must have a minimum of 36 months of active and continuous experience as a licensed real estate agent within the past 60 months.
  • Pass the Alaska broker licensing exam.
  • Obtain Errors and Omissions Insurance.
  • Submit a broker application to AREC.

What is the passing score for the Alaska real estate license exam?

The salesperson exam comprises 120 total questions80 on the national portion and 40 on the state-specific portion. Correctly answer at least 75% of the total questions in the national and state portions to pass.

The broker exam comprises 140 total questions80 on the national portion and 60 on the state-specific portion. Correctly answer at least 75% of the total questions of each portion to pass.

At the end of the examination, your score will appear on the screen, and a score report will be sent to your email.

What is the time limit for the Alaska real estate exam?

You have a total of four hours to complete the examination.

What to bring for the state of Alaska real estate license exam?

Candidates are required to provide two (2) forms of current signature identification. The name on the identification must precisely match the name on the registration. The primary ID must be government-issued, include a photo, and bear a signature. The secondary ID must also include a valid signature. All identification must be in English.

You will receive scratch paper and a pencil for use during the exam. These must be returned when you check out.

A basic (non-scientific) calculator is also permitted.

The exam is administered on a computer and consists of multiple-choice questions.
