What you need to get your real estate license in Colorado

Broker:

  • Be 18 years old or older.
  • Complete 168 hours of education or hold a degree with a major in real estate from an accredited college or university.
  • Acquire a completion certificate from the real estate school where you finished your coursework.
  • If you intend to qualify based on a degree with a major course of study in real estate, obtain an official transcript from the accredited college or university you attended.
  • Applicants under Colorado’s limited recognition agreements must submit a certified license history from every jurisdiction where they hold a license.
  • Pass the national and state portions of the Colorado Real Estate Broker’s Exam
  • Complete a fingerprint background check

What is the passing score for the Colorado real estate license exam?

The broker exam is divided into a general portion (80 questions) and a state portion (74 questions); both portions are multiple-choice questions.

You must achieve a minimum passing score of 60 points on the national portion of the exam and 53 points on the state portion.

Upon completing your examination, you will receive an official results report that includes your photo.

What is the time limit for the Colorado real estate exam?

For the broker real estate exam, you have 120 minutes to complete the national portion and 110 minutes to complete the state portion.

What to bring for the state of Colorado real estate license exam?

  • You must present valid, unexpired, and acceptable ID(s) in order to take your test.
  • Arrive at the testing center at least 30 minutes before your scheduled exam time to ensure admission.
  • A basic (non-scientific) calculator is also permitted.
