What you need to get your real estate license in Connecticut

Salesperson:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Complete a pre-license 60-hour Real Estate Principles and Practices course.
  • Completed application.
  • Pay the required fee:
    • Salesperson PSI Exam: 59$
    • Application: 80$

Broker:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Complete a 60-hour classroom course covering Real Estate Principles and Practices, a 15-hour classroom course focused on Real Estate Brokerage Principles and Practices, and a 15-hour classroom course on Legal Compliance.
  • Complete either two 15-hour pre-licensing elective courses, one 30-hour pre-licensing course in Appraisal or an elective topic, or demonstrate experience in 20 real estate transactions within the last five years.
  • Additionally, you must have at least 1,500 hours of active experience as a licensed real estate salesperson in Connecticut, supervised by a licensed broker, including a minimum of four transactions during the three years immediately prior to applying.
  • Pay the required fee:
    • Broker PSI Exam: 59$
    • Application: 120$

What is the passing score for the Connecticut real estate license exam?

The salesperson examination includes 80 questions on national topics and 30 questions specific to state regulations. A passing score requires correctly answering at least 70% of the questions.

The broker examination comprises 80 questions on national topics and 40 questions focused on state-specific content. To pass, you must achieve a score of at least 75%.

What is the time limit for the Connecticut real estate exam?

For the salesperson exam, you have 120 minutes to complete the national section and 45 minutes for the state section, totaling 165 minutes.

For the broker exam, you have 120 minutes to complete the national section and 60 minutes for the state section, totaling 180 minutes.
