What you need to get your real estate license in Hawaii

Salesperson:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be a U.S. citizen, a U.S. national, or an authorized alien permitted to work in the United States.
  • Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Complete the required Pre-License Education.
  • Provide either an unexpired Hawaii School Completion Certificate or an ORIGINAL (hard copy) Prelicensing Education Equivalency Certificate for the Real Estate License Examination.
  • Complete and submit the license application provided after successfully passing the real estate exam.
  • Exam Fee: $61.

Broker:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be a U.S. citizen, a U.S. national, or an authorized alien permitted to work in the United States.
  • Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Complete the required Pre-License Education.

What is the passing score for the Hawaii real estate license exam?

Both the salesperson and broker exams consist of 80 national questions and 50 state-specific questions; the passing score is 70% for the salesperson exam and 75% for the broker exam.

At the end of the examination, your score will be displayed on-screen, and a score report will be emailed to you. If you do not pass, the emailed report will include a diagnostic summary highlighting your strengths and weaknesses for each section of the exam.

What is the time limit for the Hawaii real estate exam?

The salesperson and broker exams each have a total time limit of 240 minutes (4 hours), 150 minutes for the national portion and 90 minutes for the state portion.

What to bring for the state of Hawaii real estate license exam?

Provide one form of identification that must match the name you scheduled with.

The identification may be:

  • U.S. Learner’s Permit (plastic card only with photo and signature).
