What you need to get your real estate license in Mississippi
Salesperson:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Mississippi resident.
- Sixty hours of pre-license education approved by the state.
- Pass the Mississippi salesperson licensing exam.
- Secure a sponsoring broker.
- A Certificate of Completion of the education requirements (official transcript, grade report or copy of the certificates) and proper fee must accompany the application.
Broker:
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Be a Mississippi legal resident at the time of applying.
- Have been an active Mississippi real estate licensed salesperson for one year, immediately before your application.
- One hundred twenty hours of broker pre-licensing education courses approved by the Mississippi Real Estate Commission.
- Pass the Mississippi Broker Licensing Exam.
- A letter of reference from their bank(s) indicating a satisfactory banking experience AND if they are a licensed active salesperson, a letter of reference from their present responsible broker must also be included.
- A Certificate of Completion of the education requirements (official transcript, grade report or copy of the certificates) and proper fee must accompany the application.
What is the passing score for the Mississippi real estate license exam?
The salesperson exam is divided into a general portion (80 questions) and a state portion (40 questions); both portions are multiple-choice questions. The broker exam is divided into 75 questions belonging to the general portion and 40 questions from the state portion.
A salesperson must achieve a minimum passing score of 70% (56 points) on the national portion of the exam and 75% (30 points) on the state portion.
A broker must achieve a minimum passing score of 75% (60 points) on the national portion of the exam and 80% (32 points) on the state portion.
Upon completing your examination, you will receive an official results report.
What is the time limit for the Mississippi real estate exam?
For both the salesperson and broker exams, you have 150 minutes to complete the national portion and 90 minutes to complete the state portion, totaling 240 minutes for both portions of the exam.
What to bring for the state of Mississippi real estate license exam?
You must provide 1 form of identification. The name on the identification must match the name you scheduled with. ID must contain candidate’s signature, photo, be valid and unexpired.
Note: You will have access to an online calculator and be given a piece of scratch paper and a pencil, which will be returned to the proctor at the end of your examination.
