What you need to get your real estate license in Mississippi
Salespersons:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Complete a background check
- Sixty hours of pre-license education approved by the state.
- Pass the Mississippi salesperson licensing exam.
- Secure a sponsoring broker.
Brokers:
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Be a Mississippi legal resident at the time of applying.
- Cannot be an elector in any other state.
- Have been an active Mississippi real estate licensed salesperson for one year, immediately before your application.
- One hundred twenty hours of broker pre-licensing education courses approved by the Mississippi Real Estate Commission.
- Complete a background check.

What is the passing score for the Mississippi real estate license exam?
The salesperson and broker exams are divided into a general portion (80 questions) and a state portion (40 questions); both portions are multiple-choice questions.
A salesperson must achieve a minimum passing score of 70% (56 points) on the national portion of the exam and 75% (30 points) on the state portion.
A broker must achieve a minimum passing score of 75% (60 points) on the national portion of the exam and 80% (32 points) on the state portion.
Upon completing your examination, you will receive an official results report.
What is the time limit for the Mississippi real estate exam?
The time limit is the same for salespersons and brokers:
- You have 150 minutes to complete the national portion and 90 minutes to complete the state portion, for a total of 240 minutes for both portions of the exam.
What to bring for the state of Mississippi real estate license exam?
You must provide 1 form of identification. The name on the identification must match the name you scheduled with.
Note: You will be given a piece of scratch paper and a pencil, which will be returned to the proctor at the end of your examination.
