What you need to get your real estate license in Nebraska
Salesperson:
- Be at least 19 years old.
- Complete 90 hours in the form of three Commission-approved courses in specific real estate subjects, and Course 0003 (6 hours).
- Have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- Apply online.
- Create a portal to track your application.
- Be a United States citizen.
- Undergo a criminal background check utilizing fingerprints. After completing and submitting the license application online with the Commission, you will receive fingerprint cards and the recommended procedures to complete the background check.
- Provide a passport-style photo of yourself showing only your head and shoulders, measuring at least 2″ x 2″, and taken within the last year. Snapshots are acceptable as long as they meet these requirements.
- Complete and submit an application form along with the application fee and examination fee.
- Proof of Errors & Omissions (E & O) insurance coverage.
Broker:
- Be at least 19 years old.
- Have two years of full-time experience as a licensed salesperson or the equivalent part-time experience.
- Complete the statutory education requirement, which includes 120 clock hours and Course 0003 (6 hours).
- Have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- Apply online.
- Create a portal to track your application.
- Be a United States citizen.
- Undergo a criminal background check utilizing fingerprints. After completing and submitting the license application online with the Commission, you will receive fingerprint cards and the recommended procedures to complete the background check.

What is the passing score for the Nebraska real estate license exam?
For salespersons:
The exam comprises 80 questions in the national portion and 50 questions in the state portion, totaling 130 questions. If you score 75% or higher in each portion, you will be advised that you PASSED.
For brokers:
The exam comprises 80 national multiple-choice questions, 50 state-specific multiple-choice questions. To pass the examination you’ll need to score 75% of correct questions or higher on each examination.
What is the time limit for the Nebraska real estate exam?
For the salesperson exam, you have 2.5 hours for the national portion and 1.5 hours for the state portion.
For the broker exam, you have 1.5 hours for the state specific portion and 2.5 hours for the national portion.
What to bring for the state of Nebraska real estate license exam?
You must provide two forms of identification. The name on the identification must exactly match the name on the registration. The primary identification must be government issued and photo-bearing with a valid signature. Identification must be in English. Temporary licenses will not be accepted.
Primary forms of identification may include:
- Driver’s license with photograph.
- State identification card with photograph.
- Passport.
- Military identification card with photograph.
- Alien Registration Card.
The second proof of identification should include your name and your signature to be used to verify your signature. Examples: credit card with signature, social security card with signature, employee/student ID card with signature.
