What you need to get your Oregon real estate license
Broker:
- Be 18 years old or older.
- High school diploma, GED, or international equivalent.
- Create an account in the agency’s online license management system (eLicense).
- Apply for a broker license. That requires paying a $300 fee through eLicense, which is nonrefundable.
- Finish 150 hours of mandatory broker pre-license education at a real estate school approved by the Agency.
- Schedule and pay for the license exam online or at (833) 892-5441 with PSI, the testing services provider.
- Pass the broker license exam.
- At a PSI test center, complete the payment and fingerprinting process for the required background check.
Principal Broker:
- Be 18 years old or older.
- High school diploma, GED, or international equivalent.
- Have held an active real estate license for no less than 3 years.
- Log into your existing eLicense account to apply for a principal broker license and submit the nonrefundable $300 application fee.
- Take the Brokerage Administration and Sales Supervision course. This course must be taken through an approved continuing education provider and consists of 40 hours.
- Schedule and pay for the license exam online or at (833) 892-5441 with PSI, the testing services provider.
- Pass the principal broker license exam.
- Choose to work under:
- An existing registered business name. The principal broker must log in to eLicense to link your license to the business, even if you are already employed there.
- Your own registered business name.
What is the passing score for the Oregon real estate license exam?
The broker and principal broker exams comprise 130 total questions. The national portion contains 80 questions, and the state-specific portion 50 questions. On both exams, applicants must achieve a minimum score of 75% on each portion to pass.
As soon as you finish the exam, you will receive your score.
You must activate your license within one year after you pass the exam. Otherwise, you will need to retake the examination to become licensed.
What is the time limit for the Oregon real estate exam?
For the broker exam, you are allowed 190 minutes for the national portion and 50 minutes for the state portion, for a total of 240 minutes.

What to bring for the Oregon real estate license exam?
You must provide one form of identification. The identification must be a VALID form of government-issued identification (driver’s license, state ID, passport, military ID) that bears your signature and your photograph. Also acceptable is an interim state driver’s license card or an interim state ID card.
You’re allowed to bring a basic, silent, non-scientific calculator.

The exam is administered on a computer and consists of multiple-choice questions.
