Salesperson:

  • Meet one of the following education requirements:
    • Complete an approved educational program from an authorized provider. If you’re a Wisconsin resident, you must take 72 hours.
    • Out-of-state applicants who hold a salesperson’s license in a state without a reciprocal agreement with Wisconsin must take 13 hours.
    • Completion of 10 semester-hour credits in real estate or real-estate-related law courses at an accredited institution of higher education. Submit transcripts so they get approved by the Department.
    • Be licensed to practice law in Wisconsin.
  • Complete your education within five years of applying for a license.
  • Convictions could be a cause for denial of application or limitation of license.
  • Pass the appropriate licensing examination.

Broker:

  • Meet one of the following education requirements:
    • Complete an approved educational program from an authorized provider. Wisconsin residential applicants must complete 72 hours of pre-license education. 
    • The non-resident applicants who are licensed brokers in those states where Wisconsin doesn’t have a reciprocal agreement shall complete 3 hours of education. Besides this, if those out-of-state applicants have never held a Wisconsin salesperson license before, they must obtain an additional 13 hours for salesperson education requirements.
    • Twenty semester-hour credits in real estate or real estate-related law courses at an accredited institution.
  • Complete your education within five years of applying for a license.
  • Convictions could be a cause for denial of application or limitation of license.

What is the passing score for the Wisconsin real estate license exam?

The salesperson exam comprises 140 questions. Additionally, it contains 5-10 pretest items, which will not affect your score, and you will not be able to identify them. A passing score is 75, and any score below 75 shows how close the candidate was to passing, not the actual count or percentage of correct responses.
