What Do You Need to Get a Real Estate License in New Mexico?
Associate Broker:
- Fill out the application form located on page 11 and mail it to:
- New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department, New Mexico Real Estate Commission, 5500 San Antonio Dr. NE, Suite B, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87109, Phone: (505) 222-9820, Fax: (505) 222-9886, Toll-Free: (800) 801-7505.
- Complete 90 hours of commission approved pre-license education courses:
- Thirty hours of real estate principles and practice.
- Thirty hours of real estate law.
- Thirty hours of broker basics.
- Pass the Broker Exam (National and State portions).
- Be 18 years old or older.
- Be a U.S legal resident.
- Submit a completed Fingerprint Certification Form confirming the submission of two fingerprint cards to the New Mexico Department of Public Safety, along with the $44 fee.
- Certificate of insurance verifying that you hold an active errors and omissions insurance policy.
Qualifying Broker:
- Fill out the application form located on page 11 and mail it to:
- New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department.
- New Mexico Real Estate Commission.
- 5500 San Antonio Dr. NE, Suite B.
- Albuquerque, New Mexico 87109.
- Phone: (505) 222-9820.
- Fax: (505) 222-9886.
- Toll-Free: (800) 801-7505.
- Provide documentation confirming that your associate broker’s license (or an equivalent) has been actively held with a real estate brokerage for at least two of the past five years prior to your application.
- Submit a completed Fingerprint Certification Form confirming the submission of two fingerprint cards to the New Mexico Department of Public Safety, along with the $44 fee.
- Certificate of insurance verifying that you hold an active errors and omissions insurance policy.
- Complete 30 credit-hour course in Brokerage Office Administration.
People who were qualifying brokers on or before December 31, 2005 do not need to comply with these requirements and may
obtain qualifying broker status again by filing a Trade Name Registration Form and paying the $20 trade name registration fee to the Commission.
