What Do You Need to Get a Real Estate License in West Virginia?
Salesperson:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Proof of completion of 90 hours of pre-license education.
- Complete and submit the application form online.
- You must go through a background check.
- If you are not a resident of the United States, you need to fill in and submit an Affidavit of Residency, Irrevocable Consent for Service of Process, and a Surety Bond.
- Pass the real estate examination.
- Fees:
- Examination Fees: $59 per section.
- License Fees: $75.
Broker/Associate Broker:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- You must have at least 2 years of active experience as a Salesperson.
- You must get a Broker’s Affidavit on Salesperson’s Training from the brokers you have worked with.
- If you are an attorney at law, you can present a “Certificate of Good Standing” from the West Virginia State Bar to get an experience and education waiver.
- Proof of completion of 90 hours of pre-license education if you are a licensed salesperson in West Virginia; otherwise, you must complete 180 hours of pre-license education.
- Supply list of closed transactions.
- Complete and submit the application form for brokers.
- You must go through a background check.
- Pass the real estate examination.
- Maintain an office space in the State of West Virginia.
- Fees:
- Examination Fees: $59 per section.
- License Fees: $150.
