What to Know About Your Montana Exam


Montana Real Estate Exam Passing Score

For salespersons:

The exam has a total of 135 questions. The national portion comprises 80 scored questions and five pretest questions that are not counted toward the score, and the state-specific portion includes 40 scored questions and 10 pretest questions that are not counted toward the score. You need to score at least 75 to pass each portion of the exam.

For brokers:

The exam has a total of 135 questions. The national portion comprises 80 scored questions and 5 pretest questions that are not counted toward the score, and the state-specific portion includes 40 scored questions and 10 pretest questions that are not counted toward the score. You need to score at least 75 to pass each portion of the exam

Upon completing your examination, you will receive an official results report.

What You Need to Bring for the Montana Real Estate Exam

You must present two forms of identification. The primary form must be government-issued and current and include your name, signature, and photograph. Temporary identification forms are not allowed. You will also be required to sign a roster to verify your identity.

  • Examples of valid primary forms of identification are current: driver’s license with photograph, state identification card with photograph, passport, and military identification card with photograph.
  • The secondary ID must show your name and signature for verification purposes, such as a signed credit card, social security card, or employment/student ID card.
  • If the name on your registration is different from what appears on your identification, you must bring proof of your name change (e.g., marriage license, divorce decree, or court order).
